Bail ruling for Neville Musvangwa and his two accomplices has been reserved until May 31.
This comes as a judge who had been assigned the case, Justice Esther Muremba, recused herself from handling the case, citing personal reasons.
In an update yesterday, the National Prosecuting Authority said he three’s case was reheard at the High Court in Harare yesterday.
“Bail ruling has been reserved to the 31st of May, 2024 in the case of the State vs Nevile Sunungurai Mutsvangwa, 44, Ellas Majachani, 45, and Simbarashe Tichingana, 38.
“The case was reheard today by the High Court sitting at Harare,” said the NPA.
According to the NPA, the three are facing one count of contravening Section 5 (i)(a)(ii) of the Exchange Control Act (Chapter 22:05) as read with section 4(1)(a)(i) of the Exchange Control Regulations SI109 of 1996 “Dealing in Foreign Currency”, one count of contravening the bank Use Promotion and Suppression of Money Laundering Act and another count of contravening the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act.
Neville, who is son to Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa and Women Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, was arrested by the CID Commercial Crimes Division on May 8 after he appeared to advertise the ZiG black market selling exchange rate of 18.5 to US$1 on his whatsapp status.
