Born Obrian Tatenda Kapfumvudzi, the man who has become a name synonymous with style in Zimbabwe, Obreezy, wasn’t always gracing the backs of celebrities.

This Mbare native, raised in the Matereni Flats, started his journey not with a diploma, but with a keen eye and a thirst for knowledge.

Obreezy’s path to fashion wasn’t paved with textbooks, but with bolts of fabric. A mentorship under Jerry of Revenge Fashions saw him starting small, running errands and absorbing the knowledge of the trade.

This wasn’t enough for the ambitious Obreezy, and as his experience and clientele grew, he branched out, building his own fashion empire.

What sets Obreezy apart is his self-taught genius. He credits his mastery of design to observing the masters at work, taking what he sees and infusing it with his own creative spark. No design schools, no crash courses, just pure talent and an eye for what makes something exquisite.

Obreezy’s talent has caught the eye of Zimbabwe’s music scene.

Seh Calaz

Dancehall chanter Seh Calaz is a testament to Obreezy’s skill, trusting him to craft his stage presence. This collaboration goes both ways, with Calaz leveraging his social media following to promote Obreezy’s brand, bringing in a legion of new fans and potential customers.

Obreezy’s love for fashion goes back to his school days. Back then, the idea of a young man pursuing fashion design was met with resistance, the subject deemed “feminine.” But for Obreezy, fashion wasn’t just a subject, it was a calling, a talent that runs through his veins. He may not have had the traditional path, but his determination has paved the way for his success.

Obreezy understands the economic realities of Zimbabwe. He’s shifted his strategy from stocked inventory to a make-to-order approach, a reflection of his business sense and commitment to his clients.
