From being born and raised in high density location of Unit N in Chitungwiza, Daisy Muzopa experienced firsthand challenges and obstacles that some women face in society.

“When l was still young, l would see lot of women not going to work spending their day on unpaid labour of household chores. Some of them experienced gender based violence from their spouses ....waiona mukadzi achirohwa kunge imbwa yapinda mumba (you would see a woman being thrashed like a mongrel that has dared enter the house).. That really touched my heart and I told myself l would advocate for them when l grow up,” Daisy explains why she set up Get it real with Daisy.

The social media platform is a place where women can find viable alternatives to lives of abuse and economic marginalisation.

“l am passionate advocate for women's empowerment and gender equality. What I saw growing up inspired me to create a social media platform dedicated to empowering women and providing them with resources and support to thrive."

“We regularly collect feedback from our community members through surveys and testimonials to gauge the impact of Get if Real with Daisy and l have realized the power of the social media in connecting people and spreading messages of positivity and change,” she says.

He Facebook Page has over 63 000 followers and sees women and even men, come to share their stories as they seek for support and assistance.

She envisions taking the powerful movement to the next level by creating partnerships with organisms that share her commitment to gender equality.

She says she is working on launching initiatives that provide practical support for women in need. With the experience she has gained by walking her talk, Muzopa is poised to make an even greater impact on the lives of women around the world.
