Chipidza In Uganda to fight for Top Africa Monologue accolade

A young and creative artist from Harare has made it to the Top Ten finalists for the Africa Monologue Challenge being held in Kampala, Uganda.

Chimwemwe Chipidza will be competing for the top spot at the pan African collaboration Monologue challenge in Uganda alongside participants from Uganda, Malawi, South Africa, Kenya, and Malawi.

Chipidza said’’ l am excited to represent my county and hopefully bring back gold.’’

The Africa Monologue Challenge is an annual celebration of monologue performance art in Africa. It is powered by MK Casting from Ghana in collaboration with the African Chamber of Content Producers and the National Film Authority of Ghana.

Chipidza started acting in 2009 at the age of 13 and is also a two-time silver medallist at the World Monologue Games. Chipidza later joined Repteens a theatre group for teenagers at Reps Theatre.

The young artist has participated in various stage production and festivals which including “Much Ado About Nothing’’ as part of the 400th anniversary celebrations of William Shakespeare hosted in 2016 by the British Embassy.

She has made her mark on screen appearing on Zim Netflix Film, “The Cook Off’’ and the hit series ‘’Blue Roof’’ and also collaborated with Busstop TV.

Chimwemwe's trip is supported by Culture Fund under Creative Actions 2 funded by the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe.
