Man jailed 20 years for raping neighbour’s sister

A 25-year-old man from Mazowe has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his neighbor’s sister. The harrowing incident occurred on August 2, 2023, and was brought to light when the victim’s brother intervened after hearing her desperate cries for help.

Fact Lampton Dire appeared before Bindura regional magistrate Amos Mbobo on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court heard that Dire had encountered the victim on a footpath at around 5:00 am, forcibly dragging her into the bush and assaulting her. Despite the victim’s attempts to resist, Dire overpowered her and continued the attack until her brother intervened.
