Two men, Tatenda Tsvuura, 29, and Samba Muriwo, 30, have been charged with theft of trust property after failing  to deliver trucks of chrome worth US$54 224.

The two were hired to transport 10 truck loads of chrome from Mvurwi to South Africa which they did not.

The State alleges that on July 16, 2024, the complainant in the matter met with the two accused at Enginet Engineering in Borrowdale, Harare, where they had an agreement for the two to transport 10 trucks of chrome from Mvurwi in Zimbabwe to South Africa.

The court was informed that the complainant paid US$11 384 as transport and documentation fee.

Instead, they kept the chrome at different sub-contracted transporters without the knowledge of the complainant.

A follow-up was made on the alleged different sub contracted transporters and only four truck chrome loads were identified at three different transporter premises and six are still outstanding.

The value of the ten truck chrome loads is US$42 840 plus transport and documentation fee US$11 384, making it a total of US$54 224.

Only four truck chrome loads worth US$17 136 were recovered.

They were ordered to appear in court August 28, 2024.
