Madzibaba Ishmael trial date set for August 20

The trial of Ishmael Chokurongerwa popularly known as Madzibaba Ishmael is set to continue on August 20, 2024.

Madzibaba Ishmael and six others are facing charges of ill-treating children which is involving 41 children, conducting a funeral service without a burial order and failure to give notice of t eh birth and death of a person.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the state has so far led eleven out of fourteen witnesses.

Chokurongerwa and two others allegedly aborted an expecting mother Hazel Chikurunhe’s pregnancy resulting in her death. Chikurunhe was secretly buried at his compound in Nyabira and her body was exhumed recently.

The state alleges that on November 12, 2023, Madzibaba Ishmael and two others connived to terminate Hazel Chikurunhe’s pregnancy, resulting in her death.

Madzibaba Ishmael and his accomplices went on to secretly bury the deceased’s body at Lily Farm church shrine without following due procedure.

He is also facing charges of having sexual intercourse with underage girls, resulting in the birth of several children.

Madzibaba Ishmael reportedly engaged in sexual relations with five minors between 2018 and 2024, including a 15-year-old, a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, and a 16-year-old.
