“IESPPNAS will be conducted across all provinces, with collected information treated with strict confidentiality and solely used for statistical purposes. The survey will be conducted under the provisions of the Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10:29]."

ZimStat said the survey will be conducted in selected households by field personnel who will have official letters and personal identity cards. In addition, ZimStat said more information regarding the survey can be obtained from its provincial offices around the country.

NSSA and ZimStats have over the years been collaborating in developing a social security scheme for informal sector workers in Zimbabwe Informal economies constitute the largest and growing labour force globally, playing critical roles in both developed and developing countries.

The IESPPNAS aims to gather essential data on the needs of informal workers to create a tailored social security scheme that addresses their unique challenges, such as income insecurity and limited access to financial services.

The initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s vision to become an upper middle-income economy by 2030, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and social equity
