Miss Zimbabwe, Charlotte, 27 years old, is an apprentice at the Zimbabwe-China Traditional Chinese Medicine Center (TCM Center).

She can hardly speak Chinese, but she can accurately say "Zusanli" and "Sanyin jiao" and other acupuncture points, and know the medicinal value of Chinese herbs such as Schizonepeta and Ginseng.

She has been working at the TCM Center for more than a year, translating and triaging for local patients, and has learned the traditional Chinese Baduanjin, through her TCM teacher, Dr. Hu Sha.

"She's willing to learn, and I'm willing to teach,” Dr. Hu Sha said. She has been doing medical work in Zimbabwe for one and a half years. She is a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. She is also a member of the 20th and 21st China Medical Team in Zimbabwe. Now, she intends to pass on this knowledge to Charlotte.

"She saw about the TCM Center in the news, so she came to us with her father who had a stroke. After several treatments, there was a significant improvement. Charlotte is my apprentice now.”

Dr Hu Sha said Charlotte is very studious and determined to master TCM.

Charlotte learned Chinese medicine not on a whim, but because it opened another door of possibility in her life.

Before she participated in the beauty pageant, she was a real estate agent. After contacting Chinese medicine, it seems that she opened another window in her life.

"My teacher Dr Hu Sha has offered me a chance to study Chinese medicine. I will go to Beijing this October to study Chinese medicine." She said happily. This mentoring relationship not only exposed her to extensive and profound Chinese medicine, but also may change her future.

"Dr Hu Sha has a Zimbabwean name, Chipo, which means gift. For me personally and for the people of Zimbabwe, her presence is the greatest gift," Charlotte said.
