Renowned Zimbabwean musician Takura has shocked fans with a candid confession about his personal battle with mental health and his experiences in rehabilitation. The hip-hop artist, known for his energetic performances and signature streetwear style, shared a deeply personal video on social media, revealing the struggles he has faced over the past few years.
Takura, who has previously been associated with a more flamboyant public image, surprised fans by appearing in the video without his usual caps, durags, and bandanas. His decision to forgo his trademark style was a deliberate choice to emphasize the seriousness of the message he wanted to convey.
In the video, Takura detailed his five-week journey in rehab, where he sought help for anger issues. He spoke candidly about the challenges he faced in coping with the consequences of his actions and the toll it took on his mental health. "I have not been the greatest person in this country's struggled mentally because of the things I have done in the past. I hurt my friends so badly and mistreated them, fought with everyone – promoters, sponsors – that would give me business over the smallest thing," he expressed.
Takura's heartfelt admission has sparked a wave of reactions from fans, with many commending his bravery for speaking openly about his struggles. "Is that really Takura? I didn't recognize him without his usual cap," wrote Tawanda Dzimu, echoing the thoughts of many who were taken aback by his new look. "I'm shocked but proud of him for opening up," posted Vimbai Maparuri.
Takura admitted that his anger and mental health challenges led to conflicts with the people in both his personal and professional life. His message comes at a time when mental health awareness is increasingly being recognized as a critical issue in Zimbabwe
