A devastating landslide in Bulambuli district, eastern Uganda, has claimed at least 15 lives, with more than 100 people still missing.
The disaster, triggered by heavy rains, struck on Wednesday, burying 40 homes and damaging others. Rescue efforts have been hindered by impassable roads and destroyed bridges, making it difficult for emergency services to reach affected areas. T
he region has experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall since October, leading to widespread flooding and landslides. Deforestation in the mountainous areas has worsened the risk of such disasters.
This latest tragedy follows a similar avalanche in 2010, which killed at least 80 people.
