The Meteorological Services Department has issued a warning, advising citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

 

Areas of Concern

 

The cyclone's trajectory indicates that the following areas are likely to be affected:

 

1. Harare Metropolitan Province: The capital city and surrounding areas can expect strong winds, heavy rainfall, and potential flash flooding.

2. Mashonaland Central Province: Districts such as Bindura, Shamva, and Mazowe are likely to experience heavy rainfall and strong winds.

3. Mashonaland East Province: Areas such as Marondera, Murehwa, and Wedza may experience flash flooding and strong winds.

4. Manicaland Province: Districts such as Mutare, Chipinge, and Chimanimani are likely to experience heavy rainfall and strong winds.

 

Safety Precautions

 

To ensure public safety, the Civil Protection Unit (CPU) and the Meteorological Services Department have issued the following guidelines:

 

1. Stay indoors: Avoid traveling and stay indoors during the cyclone's passage.

2. Avoid low-lying areas: If you live in a low-lying area, consider moving to higher ground to avoid potential flash flooding.

3. Secure outdoor items: Tie down or bring indoors any outdoor items that could become projectiles in strong winds, such as patio furniture, trash cans, and potted plants.

4. Keep essential items handy: Ensure you have a flashlight, battery-powered radio, and essential medications in case of a power outage.

5. Follow evacuation instructions: If instructed to evacuate, do so promptly and follow the recommended evacuation route.

 Preparations Underway

 The CPU and other emergency services are on high alert, with preparations underway to respond to any emergencies that may arise. The Zimbabwe National Army and Air Force of Zimbabwe are also on standby to assist with evacuations and relief efforts.
