The Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has refuted recent statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who alleged that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico intends to open a second energy front against Ukraine under the influence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The ministry dismissed the accusations as baseless, according to a press release issued on Sunday.

“These claims are unfounded and misleading,” the ministry stated. “The current Slovak government has prioritized the expansion of energy infrastructure connections with Ukraine as part of its roadmap for Slovak-Ukrainian cooperation.”

Slovakia also highlighted its continued electricity supplies to Ukraine, facilitated under agreements designed to strengthen mutual energy support. The ministry underscored Slovakia's commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which it supports through humanitarian aid and infrastructure initiatives.

The statement further called for an end to inflammatory rhetoric, urging a focus on cooperation and constructive dialogue.

This development arises amid heightened regional tensions and complex geopolitical dynamics affecting energy relations across Europe.
