The government has bolstered school supervision efforts by handing over 15 Isuzu double-cab vehicles to provincial and district education supervisors.
Permanent Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education, Moses Mhike, officially presented the vehicles on Wednesday, highlighting the government's commitment to improving educational outcomes.
The initiative, funded by the government, is part of a broader strategy to enhance school performance in 2025. It aims to ensure that supervisors can effectively monitor and support educational institutions, particularly as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education intensifies its school supervision efforts this year.
In a statement, the ministry announced that vehicle distribution would prioritize the most disadvantaged districts.
“The Ministry's goal is for all districts to have good vehicles so that they fulfill their mandate. Head Office is prioritising the neediest cases until every district's vehicle needs are met,” read part of the statement.
The initiative coincides with the implementation of the new Heritage-based curriculum, introduced at the start of the school calendar.
This curriculum is expected to address challenges in the education system, including the consistent decline in pass rates recorded by the country's examination body.
By providing supervisors with reliable transportation, the ministry hopes to enhance the oversight and support necessary to improve teaching standards and academic performance across all regions.
