An 8-month-old baby tragically lost her life after being accidentally run over by a reversing vehicle at a plot in Glengarry, Bulawayo, on Tuesday.
The Zimbabwe Republic Polic confirmed the incident, stating that the toddler had been left unattended while her mother harvested tomatoes. The police issued a statement saying:
"The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 07/01/25 at Plot 66 Glengarry, Bulawayo. A toddler (eight months) was killed after being run over by an Isuzu DMax vehicle which was reversing. The child had been left unattended near the vehicle by her mother, who was working nearby."
Motorists are urged to take extra precautions, especially in environments where children might be present, to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
