In a scathing response to US Ambassador Pamela Tremont's recent comments, ZANU PF's Director of Information Farai Marapira has denounced America's multibillion-dollar assistance to Zimbabwe, instead declaring China as the country's foremost development partner.

Marapira's statement came after Tremont highlighted that Chinese investment in Zimbabwe has not benefited its citizens, citing a doubling of the poverty rate since 2011. Tremont also emphasized that the US has been Zimbabwe's largest bilateral donor since independence in 1980, providing over $3.5 billion in aid and initiatives across various sectors.

However, Marapira was unforgiving in his criticism, labeling the US as "neo-colonial" and accusing them of funding "fake abductions, sponsoring regime change, and all manner of false flag operations" against Zimbabwe.

In contrast, Marapira praised China's contributions to Zimbabwe's development, highlighting donations such as the National Sports Stadium in Harare. He emphasized that China has been a consistent development partner since Zimbabwe's independence in 1980.

This development comes amid strengthening ties between Zimbabwe and China. In a recent joint statement, the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership, with a focus on cooperation in areas such as agriculture, mining, infrastructure development, and human resources
