Tinotenda Chipadza ,22, is facing murder charges following the brutal killing of Elisha Munengerwa in Chegutu on February 3, 2024. The incident occurred after the two left Eddy’s Kite Bar in the early hours of the morning.
Chipadza, accompanied by an accomplice identified as Enock, allegedly followed Munengerwa and his friend, Scott Zowa, after they departed from the bar. When Munengerwa and Zowa parted ways, Chipadza reportedly continued to trail Munengerwa.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, at around 3:00 a.m., near a tuck shop, Chipadza attacked Munengerwa, stabbing him in the upper left arm and forcibly stealing his Techno Camon cellphone. He fled the scene, leaving Munengerwa in a pool of blood.
A witness, who was sleeping in the tuck shop, was alerted by the sound of groaning. Upon investigating, he found Munengerwa struggling for his life and quickly reported the incident to the police. Munengerwa was rushed to Chegutu Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police investigations linked Chipadza to the crime after he sold the stolen cellphone. Authorities are still searching for his accomplice, Enock, who remains at large.
