A woman accused of illegally pegging and allocating residential stands in Cloverdale B, Galloway Estate, Ruwa, has appeared in court.
Linda Mapfoche ,44, was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates' Courts, facing charges under the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act.
The complainant in the case is Glorious Properties, represented by Petronella Kagonye.
According to the State, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works owns the 211.5-hectare piece of land in question and had designated Glorious Properties as the sole developer.
However, Mapfoche, along with Shelly Chapwanya, Odwell Mudzudza, Davren Chimhako, Joe Madziva, Webster Gonzo, James Chifamba, Togarepi Mudzudza, Charity Liver, Erick Mutumbi, Kambuto Taliban, Nyarugwe, Tindo Gokwe, and Praise Gokwe, allegedly invaded the land under the leadership of Bamusi Magaisa.
Between May 8, 2024, and the present, the accused allegedly pegged and allocated stands to desperate home seekers without approval from the relevant authorities.
The State argues that Mapfoche had no legal mandate to reside on the land, construct structures, or allocate residential and commercial stands.
A report was made to the authorities, leading to her arrest.
