The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association has entered into a strategic partnership with ACRCloud, a global leader in music recognition technology, to enhance the tracking of music airplay in Zimbabwe.
This collaboration will enable ZIMURA to monitor real-time music plays across radio stations in the country, capturing detailed data, including song titles, artists, and International Standard Recording Codes.
This development is expected to improve the accuracy of royalty distribution to local musicians, composers, and publishers.
Building on its prior collaboration with WIPO Connect, ZIMURA is set to implement an advanced broadcast monitoring system that will allow the automatic identification of songs aired on radio, tracking of play counts, and monitoring of airplay durations.
The integration with WIPO Connect provides essential tools for managing music rights effectively, while ACRCloud’s technology ensures that every song played on Zimbabwean radio is accurately recorded.
ZIMURA stated that the partnership marks a significant step in modernising the music industry by replacing outdated manual tracking systems with automated, AI-driven tools.
The move is expected to reduce administrative workloads, minimise errors, and ensure that local artists receive fair compensation for their work.
This initiative is supported by WIPO Connect, which aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the music sector, ensuring a globally competitive industry.
