Two fuel attendants have appeared in court for allegedly defrauding Croco Motors of 5,952 liters of fuel.

Maud Murimirwa ,39, of Budiriro 5B Extension and Pangrastio Makanza ,67, of Sunningdale were arraigned before magistrate Isheunesu Matova, facing fraud charges. Makanza was granted bail of US$50.

The complainant in the case is Croco Motors.

According to the State, in December 2024, the accused, who were responsible for refueling vehicles and updating daily sales sheets at a service station, allegedly conspired with their supervisor, Gutsikai Munodawaya, who is already on remand for a similar offense.

The accused are said to have recorded inflated fuel sales figures on the daily sheets while, in reality, less fuel was sold. They then allegedly converted the unaccounted fuel into cash, which they shared before submitting the falsified records to Munodawaya for consolidation.

It is further alleged that Munodawaya manipulated transaction data in the Redan reporting system, including Pinnacle DMS and FileMaker, to reflect lower fuel sales.

On January 16, 2025, Croco Motors conducted an internal audit of the December 2024 records and discovered discrepancies in the reported fuel sales. A total of 2,934 liters of diesel and 3,019 liters of blend petrol were unaccounted for. Further investigations revealed that the transactions were carried out by the accused.

The audit determined that the accused had underreported fuel sales by 5,952 liters, amounting to a financial loss of US$8,985. None of the stolen amount has been recovered.

The case continues.
