A man who raped his 14-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

The accused ,41, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts accused of rape.

The State proved that sometime in April 2024, the complainant was contacted by the accused so that they could meet up at Hunyani River.

The complainant went and met up with the accused person.

The accused allegedly proposed love to the complainant, which she turned down citing that the accused was his father and it was inappropriate.

The following day, the accused person texted the complainant on her WhatsApp so that they could meet up again at Hunyani River.

The accused proposed to the complainant again but she did not respond.

He then started caressing her and fondling her breasts.

The accused person allegedly went on to drag the complainant and pushed her to the ground.

He then allegedly removed her trousers and raped her.

The accused threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed to anyone.

In December 2024, the accused's wife, who is the stepmother to the complainant went away.

In her absence, the accused continued to have sexual intercourse with the complainant several times on different occasions.

The matter was unearthed when the complainant told her grandmother that she was pregnant and lied that it was her boyfriend who had impregnated her.

She later revealed that it was her father who had raped her.
