Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) walked away with US$4 200 as this year’s winners of the Delta-BOOST Make A Difference Innovation Challenge.
This year’s topic of the challenge was “Towards a Cleaner World” with 13 universities in attendance.
It is an essential component of the Delta Corporation Limited/Enactus long-standing partnership, the programme will be running under the name Delta-BOOST Social Responsibility Programme.
The showcase is an annual programme where students receive entrepreneurship and sustainable environment management skills.
The university teams had been implementing community empowerment projects for 12 months in different cities across the country.
In a statement, Delta Corporation said the annual challenge aims to impart knowledge on recycling initiatives that transform waste management into flourishing businesses.
“The event, which is a partnership between Delta Corporation Limited and the BOOST Fellowship saw industry captains, students and community members coming together with the spirit of promoting a cleaner world that is free from litter through developing a recycling culture that incorporates business intelligence.
“The showcase is part of Delta Corporation Limited’s vision of a cleaner world where natural resources are shared and preserved for the future hence universities were provoked to be part and parcel of tailoring sustainable solutions,” reads the statement.
The University of Zimbabwe team came second and pocketed US$4 075 while the Harare Institute of Technology got US$ 2 200 after coming third with the remaining institutions receiving different amounts.
