Two disturbing incidents of violence have been reported in different parts of Zimbabwe. In Kensington, Bulawayo, an 85-year-old caretaker was seriously injured after being struck in the neck with an axe by a woman who allegedly demanded sex. The attack occurred on August 10 at around 5PM, when the woman entered the victim's room and made the demand. After the elderly man refused, the suspect grabbed an axe and struck him once on the right side of the neck, causing a deep cut.
The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment, and police have appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele urged the public to resolve disputes peacefully.
In a separate incident, police in Kwekwe have arrested two men, Thembinkosi Ndlovu, 22, and Nkosinomusa Moyo, 24, for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman at a bar after she rejected one of their romantic advances. The attack took place on August 10 at Mutegude Shops, Redcliff, where the victim, Rosemary Diana, was allegedly assaulted and killed.
According to police, Ndlovu struck Diana multiple times with a cooking stick, while Moyo stabbed her in the back with a knife.
