A 17-year-old girl from Mabvuku was reportedly gang-raped by two armed men on board a pirate taxi in Marlborough on Boxing Day.
Police confirmed the incident saying: “Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case involving a girl who was raped by two men after boarding a mushikashika vehicle from the Central Business District to Marlborough on Boxing Day,” police said.
The girl reportedly boarded a silver Honda Fit and sat in the back seat before three unidentified men boarded the same car.
When they arrived at the intersection of Harare Drive and Sam Nujoma Street, the girl asked to be dropped off but the driver reportedly turned into Harare Drive, pulled off the road and parked in a bushy area and produced a pistol before taking turns to rape her.
The girl was later dumped and the car sped back towards the CBD.
Police said they are still investigating the matter.
