The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested a foreign national, Cassian Pascal Mangombe ,45, in connection with a spate of car break-ins in Harare between 18 and 21 August 2025.
Police say Mangombe is linked to three incidents at Bond Shopping Centre in Mt Pleasant, Greenfields Shopping Centre along Samora Machel Avenue, and Village Walk Shopping Centre in Borrowdale, where three laptops and several fuel coupons were stolen from parked vehicles.
According to ZRP, detectives from the CID Theft from Car unit tracked Mangombe to Massasa, Harare, where he was arrested on 22 August.
His arrest led to the recovery of fuel coupons stolen on 19 August from a Toyota Hilux at Village Walk Shopping Centre.
Investigations also revealed that Mangombe had illegally entered the country and had already sent the stolen laptops to his home country by bus.
Police have since engaged Interpol to assist with recovering the stolen laptops. ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said more details would be released in due course.
