In a recent LinkedIn post, Tino Kambasha, Chief Executive Officer of the National Venture Capital Company of Zimbabwe, shared that the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe has approved KumbaCare’s telemedicine platform.

“This Team (PORTRAZ) just made a game-changing decision that is going to shape the future of Zimbabwe… Your help with our healthcare solution shows you care about the rural and marginalized community.” — Tino Kambasha

According to Kambasha’s post, while excitement is high, “a lot of work still needs to be done.” but the approval signals POTRAZ’s endorsement of KumbaCare’s mission to improve healthcare access nationwide.

KumbaCare is a Zimbabwean telemedicine platform launched in 2023, aimed at bridging gaps in healthcare delivery. Built as a “digital clinic,” it offers:

  • Online consultations with certified doctors and specialists
  • E‑prescriptions and the option for medication delivery
  • Appointment booking for both virtual and in-person visits
  • Insurance and financial accessibility via its OneHealth plan and KumbaPay installments
  • Ambitious future innovations, including AI-based health checkers and wearable devices for early symptom detection

In mid-2025, NVCCZ, in partnership with Old Mutual, provided KumbaCare with US$50,000 in seed capital, empowering the team to further scale their telemedicine services.
