Rangers have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 National Premier League after Rangers Clinch Historic First NPL Title With Crushing Win to their maiden title with a commanding 224-run demolition of Methane Lions at Old Georgians Sports Club on Saturday.

The victory capped off a dominant season for Rangers, who finished top of the table with 12 wins from 13 matches.

Opening batter David Johnson laid the perfect platform with a patient yet classy 100, anchoring the innings through a 136-run partnership with Jarod Basson ,66.

Late fireworks from Johnathan Campbell (55 not out off 25 balls) lifted Rangers to a mammoth 338 for 4 in their 45 overs.

In response, Methane Lions never looked settled. Their top order faltered, with only Richmond Mutumbami ,23, and Ashwell Karuma ,22, offering brief resistance.

The Rangers bowling attack, led by Wallace Mubayiwa (3/9) and Brandon James (3/22), ripped through the line-up, dismissing the Lions for just 114 in 25.4 overs.

The emphatic win sealed the Rangers’ place at the top of the NPL table on 24 points, ahead of powerhouses Takashinga Patriots 1 and Amakhosi 1.
