UNFPA Rolls Out Mobile One-Stop Centres to Expand GBV Services in Bubi

The United Nations Population Fund has deployed Mobile One-Stop Centres in Bubi District to improve access to critical services for survivors of gender-based violence in hard-to-reach communities.

The intervention, under UNFPA’s Women at the Centre Initiative, brings integrated support directly to communities, including GBV survivor counselling, medical care and referrals, legal assistance, and community education and awareness programmes.

“Mobile One-Stop Centres are ensuring that no woman faces distance as a barrier to care,” UNFPA Zimbabwe said, highlighting the programme’s focus on underserved rural areas.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, alongside local and international partners Musasa and World Vision Zimbabwe.

GBV remains a major social and public health challenge in Zimbabwe, with rural communities often facing limited access to health, psychosocial, and legal services due to distance and resource constraints.

Stakeholders say the mobile model is expected to close service gaps by delivering coordinated support at community level.

UNFPA said the programme also prioritises prevention through community education, as part of broader efforts to end gender-based violence and strengthen protection systems for women and girls in Matabeleland North and beyond.
