Dynamos Retire Iconic Number 2 Jersey as Captain Emmanuel Jalai Departs

Dynamos FC have announced the suspension of the iconic number 2 jersey for the 2026 season following the departure of long-serving captain Emmanuel Jalai.

The decision marks the end of a transformative six-year era for the Harare giants. Jalai, whose contract expired in December 2025, leaves a legacy defined by unwavering loyalty, defensive brilliance, and a trophy-laden tenure that has cemented his status as a club legend.

While both the club and Jalai initially intended to ink a new deal for the 2026 campaign, the narrative shifted when an unnamed foreign club expressed interest in the defender.

In an official statement released via Facebook on Monday, the club explained their decision to let the skipper walk:

“Both Dynamos FC and Jalai had intended to conclude a new deal... However, interest from a foreign club emerged, reopening the door to Jalai’s long-standing professional ambition.”

Recognizing his immense contribution, the "Glamour Boys" confirmed they would not stand in the way of his dreams, opting instead to honor him by withdrawing his shirt number from active duty for the upcoming season.
