
The Infrastructure and Development Bank of Zimbabwe has appointed Willing Zvirevo as its substantive Chief Executive Officer with effect from June 1, 2026, following a period in which he served as Acting CEO.
In a notice issued by the bank's Board of Directors, Chairman KupuKile Mlambo said Zvirevo had successfully steered the institution during his tenure as acting chief executive and was well-positioned to lead the bank into its next phase of growth.
"The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Willing Zvirevo as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure and Development Bank of Zimbabwe. The appointment is with effect from 1 June 2026," Mlambo said.
"Having successfully steered the institution as the Acting Chief Executive Officer since 1 September 2025, Mr. Zvirevo steps into this substantive role to lead the Bank into its next phase of strategic development and growth."
Zvirevo is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in financial services, investment banking and development finance. According to the board, his expertise spans business case development, investment appraisal, project finance, capital raising and alternative investments.
Before joining IDBZ, he held senior management positions at KPMG Corporate Finance, NMB Bank Limited, Sagit Finance House Limited and AMG Global Chartered Accountants (Zimbabwe), where he headed the firm's Corporate Finance practice.

The board also highlighted his international experience, noting that he spent seven years in the Cayman Islands working with the Citco Group, one of the world's largest hedge fund administrators.
Prior to his appointment as Acting CEO, Zvirevo served as IDBZ's Director for Resource Mobilisation and Climate Finance.
"Prior to his elevation as Acting Chief Executive Officer in September 2025, Mr. Zvirevo was the IDBZ's Director for Resource Mobilisation and Climate Finance, driving the Bank's resource mobilisation strategy which encompasses capitalisation initiatives, project financing and debt issuance programmes, strategic partnerships, and climate finance initiatives," Mlambo said.
The board expressed confidence in Zvirevo's leadership capabilities and vision for the institution.
"The Board of Directors expresses its absolute confidence in Mr. Zvirevo's leadership, strategic depth and proven experience to guide the Bank towards fully achieving its development mandate and long-term strategic objectives," Mlambo said.
"We assure all stakeholders of the Board's unwavering commitment to supporting him in this substantive role."
The appointment comes as IDBZ continues to play a key role in financing infrastructure and development projects across Zimbabwe, with a focus on mobilising resources for strategic national initiatives.
