The Citizens Coalition for Change has been widely castigated for its failure to set up party structures.
Political analysts have said the party appears to be a one-man band operating on the orders of its president, Nelson Chamisa.
CCC has, however defended its move, arguing that structures are there but are not known to the world.
The party claims the party was formed in January 2021 ahead of the March 2022 by-elections. This followed internal squabbles over leadership in the MDC-T in which the courts ruled that Chamisa’s leadership of the party was illegal, ordering the party to revert to its 2014 structures.
The resultant fallout and recall of legislators who were loyal to Chamisa by MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora.
Following the CCC’s formation last year, analysts believe the party should hold a congress which can give them a mandate and an elected leadership.
“Generally, a political party should have a political and administrative structure which can give them a mandate.
“It is surprising that a year later, CCC is still to hold an elective congress,” Said Kudakwashe Chari, a political analyst.
Chari sentiments were echoed by Abel Marawa, who argued that politicians should get a mandate from congress resolutions.
“Political parties should seek a mandate from its members rather just getting orders from one man,” Marawa added.
Research by Zim Now shows that political parties all over the world have structures.
