Dama arrested in ongoing anti drug sweep

Suspected Mbare drug dealer Simbarashe Chanachimwe (31), alias Dama, who was being sought by the police, has been arrested.

He had been on the run for some time, with Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary Nick Mangwana confirming police could not locate him. This followed a raid at his alleged base at Block 14 Matapi Flats in Mbare where 26 sachets of dagga and one plant of mbanje measuring 1,7 metres were recovered.

“I hear he can’t be located. Possibly on the run,” Mangwana said then.

Police in a tweet posted Wednesday confirmed having arrested Dama.

The law enforcement agency has over the past weeks intensified the search for drug dealers and bases under an operation code-named: “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances: See something, say something”, and this has seen thousands arrested.
