Sungura ace Alick Macheso features on one of Dorcas Moyo’s songs off her latest album Mhanza Haisekwi that was launched at Chancellor Primary School on Saturday.
The first disc of the 11-track Mhanza Haisekwi was bought for US$2 000 by energy and petroleum mogul Ganizani Ganizani, who thanked established artistes for supporting their upcoming colleagues.
The businessman added that he purchased the album at such a high price in order to uplift musicians and to shoe his appreciation for the support that bigger artistes are giving.
Some of the tracks on the album are Tinoungudza, Mhanza Haisekwi, Zvese zvinobatirana, Nyika inodedera, Handiburuke, Nyama Munyengeri, Zvinoda Jesu, Zivai nguva, Ndipeiwo mukana, Moyo Mutsva and a bonus track Tisapedzane.
Macheso’s bass guitar is distinct on Mhanza Haisekwi which promises to beat the rest of the tracks on the album.
Baba Shero, as Macheso is affectionately known by his followers, participated on the title track while Vabati VaJehova collaborated on Zvinoda Jesu. Vabati VaJehovha front man Richard Magaya whose group hogged the limelight with their hit song Munoita Minana travelled with his band from Harare to perform at the event.
“We are here to support to Moyo’s album launch,” Magaya explained.
“I feel honoured to grace this occasion and the launch has brought together big and small artistes. This is something that is rare for established artists in Zimbabwe to uplift upcoming artists,” added Magaya.
