A Bulawayo church caretaker has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping, drugging, and raping a 15-year-old girl.

Mkhululi Ndlovu, 42, appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga facing two counts of rape and kidnapping.

Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to both counts and magistrate Malunga remanded him in custody to March 28.

Prosecuting, Constance Mathaba told the court that November 8, 2022, Ndlovu met the teenage girl near her home in the Nkulumane suburb of Bulawayo.

He reportedly grabbed her and placed a knife on her throat while forcing her to sniff a white powder, which is suspected to be a drug popularly known as guka or mutoriro.

The frightened girl, the court heard, sniffed the powder and fell unconscious.

The court heard that she was shocked when she woke up the following morning naked in Ndlovu's house.

The white powder was on the bed.

The girl told the court that Ndlovu forced her to sniff the powder after which she would feel drowsy and gradually fall unconscious.

She would wake up naked, the court heard, with signs she had engaged in sex and she would see used condoms on the floor.

She also alleged that Ndlovu locked her up inside the house every time he went out.

The girl only escaped when Ndlovu asked her to accompany him to buy drugs at a house in Old Lobengula.
