Dema woman faces drug dealing charges

A Dema woman who, after being approached by detectives, handed over drugs has been arraigned to court.

Rumbidzai Mtetwa, 23, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court accused of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs or, alternatively, contravening Section 157 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9.23.

The State alleges that on March 25, 2023, at around 15:00 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics were informed that Mtetwa was dealing in dangerous drugs at Chinamano Village, Dema.

The detectives went to the area and found her at her place of residence. They introduced themselves and explained the reason for their visit.

Mtetwa voluntarily handed over a plastic paper containing eight satchets of suspected Methylenedioxymethamphetamine.

The drugs were seized and Mtetwa was subsequently arrested and taken to the CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, for tests.

The tests tested positive for Methamphetamine. It was weighed before  Mtetwa and a weight of 02 grammes was recorded with a street value of ZWL$20 000.

She was remanded in custody to April, 4, 2023.
