Chitungwiza Municipality has announced that they will be billing services in USD starting on May 1.

The council encouraged residents with outstanding balances to settle their debts before the stated date.

“Dear customers and ratepayers, we would like to kindly inform you that starting from May 1, 2023, Council will be billing all services in USD as per the approved budget.

“Please note that payment shall be paid in all currencies at the prevailing rate. We implore those with outstanding balances to come and clear their RTGS balances as all outstanding will be converted to USD on May 1, 2023,” reads the statement

Chitungwiza council public relations manager Mr Lovemore Meya said the move is to allow multi-currency use.

“It does not mean residents should necessarily pay their bills strictly in USD but rather when we send our bills they will be in USD but residents can still pay in ZWL$ at the prevailing rate,” he said.

The council’s health department has also announced that they will be distributing family planning pills.

“Chitungwiza city health department would like to inform the general public that, with immediate effect, free family planning tablets are being distributed to any and all eligible recipients from our council clinics.

“The distribution of the family planning tablets for free shall be for a limited time period only. For more information, visit your nearest council clinic,” the department said.

The tablets will be distributed at Zengeza clinic, Seke South clinic, St Mary’s clinic and Seke North clinic.
