The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe has announced that prosecution services are free of charge.
This comes after reported revelations that some people are bribing public officials, especially prosecutors, to fast-track cases.
In a notice dated March 28, the authority said it is a criminal offence to bribe prosecutors, NPA staff or any other persons purporting to represent the authority for prosecution services.
“Any money that is paid as a bribe for prosecution services will be forfeited to the state, please, take note that prosecution services are free throughout the country.
“The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe does not charge members of the public for any court processes, nor does the authority receive payments from members of the public,” reads the statement.
NPA said those who pay anyone to have their case heard or expedited in any way risk being prosecuted for corruption.
