ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi has said investigations are underway to establish the cause of the fire that gutted the Nash Paints factory in Graniteside early Thursday morning.
A team from the forensic section is reported to have visited the site for investigations and, according too Assistant Commissioner Nyathi, some details pertaining to the incident may be ready for sharing next week.
The estimate damage is estimated at US$1.1 million.
“Yes, we are investigating the cause of the fire but we can only share details next week,” Assnt Comm Nyathi said.
Nash Paints executive chairman, Tinashe Mutarisi, confirmed a team from the ZRP forensic department had visited the factory for investigations.
“We don’t know what started the fire and I am not suspecting any foul play at all.
“The fire brigade responded promptly and saved a lot of things when it was alerted about this inferno.
“The fire-fighters arrived between 10 to 20 minutes and they came prepared. They acted very professionally and did a great job.
“It’s something I felt that I should say because most of the time there are reports that fire-fighters arrive late and without water. They came and stopped the fire,” said Mutarisi.
