An artisanal miner based in Chiweshe is battling for life at a local hospital his colleague poured cyanide poison on him following a dispute over US$1.
The matter came to light at the Concession Magistrates’ Courts yesterday where Dinky Gweshe, 30, appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Gweshe pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentencing.
The court heard that on May 15 at Rosa mining area, Gweshe was ordered to carry gold ore by Tatenda Karomo, 28, for a US$1.
Gweshe demanded to be paid first before carrying the ore but was promised to be given after reaching the final destination.
After arriving at the destination, Gweshe demanded his US$1 but Karomo refused to give him.
This infuriated Gweshe, who then poured cyanide poison on Karomo’s body.
Karomo was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital.
