A student at Belvedere Teachers’ College, who gave birth only to dispose of the baby, has appeared in court.
Bridget Tafineyi, 18, of Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of infanticide.
The State, alleges that on July 16, at E-Hostel, Belvedere Teacher's College Tafineyi gave birth to a baby in a green bucket.
She put the baby in a plastic paper bag and dumped it behind a hostel.
The State did not oppose the bail of Tafineyi, proposed that she deposit US$100 as bail to the Clerk of Court, not to interfere with witnesses and to report to the police once a week on Friday until the matter is finalised.
