Hibernic Energy director Danny Huruyadzo faces fraud charges over false sale of NBS Bank properties

Hibernic Energy has been arraigned before the courts on fraud allegations, after claiming to sell stands that were under NBS Bank.

Danny Huruyadzo, 46, who is the director of Hibernic Energy, Private Limited, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts - in his representative capacity - accused of fraud.

The complainant in this matter is Jethro Mavangwa, of Budiriro 1.

The State alleges that on April 4, Mavangwa was referred to Huruyadzo and Henry Chengeta, who is still at large, by his sister that they were selling NBS houses under NBS Bank Housing Scheme in Dzivaresekwa and Stoneridge to low income earners.

Mavangwa allegedly contacted and met Chengeta and was taken to Dzivaresekwa Extension where he was shown two houses valued at US$20 000 each which were said to be up for sale.

Mavangwa was told to pay a deposit fee of US$2 350 on each house.

From April 4 to July 1, Mavangwa allegedly made a total payment of US$3 000 to Huruyadzo at Warren Park Shops towards the allocation of a house and was later given a receipt at Fife Avenue Shops by Chengeta in the name Hibernic Energy.

Mavangwa made follow-ups with Huruyadzo for allocation of the house and he allegedly failed to allocate him but continued to give false promises.

Mavangwa inquired with NBS Bank about the housing scheme and was told that they had no such scheme with the bank, leading him to make a police report.

As a result, Mavangwa was defrauded of US$3 000 and nothing was recovered.

Huruyadzo was ordered to appear in court on November 28 for his routine remand.
