A police officer died and four others were badly injured in an accident which occurred at the 11.5 kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on Monday in which a police Mahindra vehicle veered off the road before overturning several times.
Police confirmed the accident.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which a Police officer died whilst four others were injured when a Police Mahindra vehicle veered off the road before overturning several times at the 11.5 kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on 23/10/2023.”
The body of the deceased was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at Mpilo Hospital.
In a similar incident, four people were killed while two others were injured in an accident which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the 35 kilometre peg along Chegutu-Chinhoyi Road where a DAF truck rammed into the back of another stationary truck.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Murombedzi Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
