Nomads Squash Club is set for the end of year round-up tournament at Cranborne Squash Courts on December 8 and 9, 2023.
The tournament is being supported and sponsored by Electrosales Hardware.
It is running under the theme, “When passion meets power, sport becomes life.”
In an interview with Zim Now, Nomads Squash Club coach Nyshto Munyoro said,
“So, I have thought of doing these type of tournaments around all Mashonaland clubs in order to revive squash and take it back to where it was.
“Squash clubs used to have more than 30 members but soon after Covid-19 everything dropped. So, I am having hopes and trust that clubs and associations will help bring squash back to life.”
The tournament has awards for first, second and third places.
Everyone who is going to participate at the tournament is going to be given a certificate of participation and a t-shirt.
Munyoro said the tournament is catering for the opens only.
“We have been focusing on junior development but forgetting people who make it happen for juniors so, l thought of spicing it up and only above 35-year-old men will be allowed to play then for ladies it’s open for any age group because am trying to boost numbers for ladies as well.”
Everyone is being invited to support the participants on the day of the tournaments.
On the first day of the tournament, games start at 1600 hours to 1900 hours and on the second day, games are starting from 0800 hours to 1300 hours.
The affiliation fee is US$10 only to participate.
