Do you know them? Police hunt for drinking kids

Police say they are looking for the kids seen apparently drinking alcohol in the open featured on a video shared on social media

“The ZRP has taken note of a viral social media video, especially on WhatsApp platforms where minors (young boys) are openly seen drinking beer in a public place in Harare CBD. Investigations are now underway with a view of identifying the place, the young boys, their parents, and the person who might have facilitated the acquisition of the alcohol by the minor,” said the police statement on X.

In the video the minor boys who seem to be sharing alcoholic beverages say they are from Mbare.

It is illegal to sell alcohol or cigarettes to anyone below the age of 18.

Zimbabwe is currently battling substance abuse. A national tsak force was set up and police have arrested thousands of drug dealers and users including women.
