Following a video circulating online alleging Adela Contracting (Private) Limited’s involvement in distributing sewage water for profit, the company has issued a comprehensive statement clarifying its role in the Kambanji area, Greystone Park.
The video, captured on January 15, showed a water bowser bearing Adela’s branding and individuals seemingly connected to the company. Adela vehemently denies the accusations, emphasising its core business revolves around plant equipment hire and not water distribution.
According to the statement, Adela was contracted by Runt Dutoit Property Developers for road construction in the Kambanji area. Due to recent heavy rains, a freshwater stream crossing Outspan Drive needed diversion, and the accumulated rainwater needed draining to facilitate further development.
The water bowser in the video, Adela clarifies, was draining this accumulated freshwater for road compaction purposes. They categorically deny any involvement in sewage water collection or distribution, highlighting the absence of sewer lines in the area.
“The drained water was NOT distributed to residents or any person whatsoever outside the locality,” the statement emphasises.
“Adela Contracting IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF WATER FOR PROFIT OR CONSUMPTION OR HOUSEHOLD USE.”
The company has reported the matter to the relevant authorities and urges the public to stop circulating the “false and defamatory” information.
This incident brings to light the importance of verifying information before sharing it online. Adela’s swift clarification helps combat misinformation and protects its reputation. This story will continue to be monitored as developments unfold.
