Zimbabwe is expected to host the 56th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa conference at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls from February 28 to March 5.

The conference, which gathers African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, is this year running under the theme: “Financing the transition to inclusive Green economies in Africa: Imperatives, Opportunities and Policy Options,” and seeks to address challenges faced by economies in the wake of climate change among other factors.

In a statement, Finance Minister Prof. Mthuli Ncube  reiterated that the conference will follow a schedule of days deliberating on challenges that the continent faces in accessing resources to finance the transition towards green economies.

“….and the negative impacts on economies arising from climate change, pandemics, growing debt levels and conflicts,” Prof Ncube said.

“Beyond the statutory matters of the ECA, the conference will facilitate dialogue and exchange of views by experts and African Ministers responsible for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, as well as Governors of Central Banks,” Ncube added.

The conference will also feature a presentation by a high-profile global thought-leader on Artificial Intelligence and economic development in Africa.
