Zimbabwe athletics champion, Ngoni Makusha shone again at the Gauteng North Athletics League in South Africa last weekend.
This tournament is held annually and Makusha participates there every year.
In an interview with Zim Now, Makusha said he is happy with his start this season as the race gave him a positive mind towards all the tournaments that he is going to be involved in this year.
“I’m happy with the times I run at this time of the season. It’s a positive thing and definitely excited for the future, especially this year where we have African Games, World Relays, African Senior Athletics championships and the Olympic Games.”
Makusha ran 10.30 seconds in 100m and 20.98 seconds in 200m, which he said is the best for his start of this season.
His next competition should be the Bronze Continental Tour in Botswana.
“The race in Botswana is part of my preparations for the build-up towards the African Games, so I have to make sure I’m getting into good form,” he said.
Makusha is preparing for the Olympics Paris 2024, and is pushing to accumulate the needed points to secure his spot at the Olympics.
