Team Pachedu, an election watchdog that worked closely with the Citizens Coalition for Change and its former leader, Nelson Chamisa, has said that formation of new parties without implementing electoral reforms is useless as it only benefits the ruling party.
This comes as Chamisa dumped the CCC with indications that he might launch a new political movement being dubbed the blue movement, with the organisation taking a swipe at the new formation, saying it is meaningless in the face of uneven playing field.
In a series of threads on X, Team Pachedu warned that the abrupt formation of political parties does not answer the reform question, which is paramount as the nation approaches the 2028 election.
“We may change colours, names, form new parties but still that will not work until we even the field, Team Pachedu posted on X.
Team Pachedu also noted that fights within political parties in the opposition ranks are smaller to the fight for reforms.
“We cannot talk of 2028 before we talk and get the reforms. When we are all done with the fights, let us remember the bigger fight that we have to unite for. 2008, 2013, 2018, 2028, 2033, 2038 … all needed/need reforms to deliver change,” Pachedu added.
