Hatcliffe Extension ‘video’ assault women in court

More of the women who appeared in a video on social media, while assaulting another woman over an alleged love affair with their accomplice’s husband, have appeared in court.

Zelpa Kanduza, 19, Natasha Kanduza, 17, Fortunate Tembo, 25, and Olleyn Vinyungwi, 18, all residing in Hatcliffe Extension, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with assault

They were remanded in custody.

The complainant in this matter is Alice Chaichai, 32, of Hatcliffe Extension.

The State alleges that on February 1, 2024, at around 1300 hours at stand number 4088 Hatcliffe Extension Harare, the accused persons arrived looking for Chaichai.

Chaichai arrived later and Natasha asked her if she was having a love affair with Zelpa Kanduza’s husband and Chaichai denied having such an affair.

The accused persons were angered by this and teamed up, manhandled Chaichai, pulled her out of her house by the braids.

While outside the complainant’s house, the accused persons took turns to punch Chaichai several times all over her body as she was lying helplessly on the ground.

Zelpa went on to kick Chaichai countless times all over her body as others were punching her.

It is alleged that the accused persons went on to strip her clothes by removing her dress and tearing her skin tight and pant before leaving her lying unconscious on the ground.

A well-wisher covered her with a cloth and she sustained a bleeding eye and bruises on the legs.

Chaichai later made a report, which led to the arrest of the accused persons.
