Temba Mliswa’s 20-year-old daughter, m’Diwa Mliswa Chanetsa has been denied bail.

She will be held in custody until trial commences on March 12, 2024.

m’Diwa was arrested for illegal possession of crystal meth.

The investigating officer of the case, Peter Tendai Mandina has opposed her bail citing that the dangerous drug that the accused person was found in possession of is highly addictive.

“If she is released on bail there is likelihood that she might continue selling the dangerous drug to the community since she is not gainfully employed,” Mandina said.

Posting on X, Temba Mliswa said her daughter must face the consequences of her action.

“The wheels of justice have turned and my daughter was denied bail and will be held in custody until trial commences on the 12th March. It’s tough, but I’m off to visit her now and start the process to get her the best help possible legally, emotionally and mentally.

“I thank everyone for your fervent prayers and kind words of encouragement and support. From hereon, the matter will be handled as a private, family matter. Thank you.

“We have to do whatever is necessary to defeat the scourge of drug and substance abuse. From drugs it leads to many other things such as contracting diseases such as STIs. We remain strong against that.

“It’s my sincere hope that the law takes its course as a passage towards my daughter’s rehabilitation. Such repercussions and consequences are fundamental restraining factors of life, which should be suffered to properly order an individual’s actions.

“I remain an advocate against drug abuse. As you heard my daughter was found with drugs together with her boyfriend. The law must take its course, unfortunately. She’s injuring herself and others in the process. I would not want others to be injured by my daughter because of the situation,” he said.

m’Diwa was arrested with her boyfriend 27-year-old Tawanda Chigudu in Avonlea, Harare.

The crystal meth weighed approximately 1.30 grammes with a street value of ZWL$195 000.
